2019 Summer Camp: 2 sessions at St. ALBAN'S Church; June
Film and Story Summer Camp
Sessions I & II
June 2019
St Alban's Church in ALbany,Ca
Ages 10-16
In this Film and Story Summer Camp we will study film history, video creation techniques, and visual communication to inspire campers to think and talk about the movies they love. We'll learn a DIY “Makers” approach to filmmaking by creating our own individual short films in one week’s time using equipment provided by the camp.
This Camp focuses on the art and design behind narrative filmmaking. We emphasize story structure and the relationship between character and environment. Campers research, and storyboard their ideas crafting them into a short live action video. They then design and build their own miniature environments and workshop their characters to fit within the worlds they make. By the end of the week, using basic green screen and compositing techniques, they create a short film where their characters interact within the world they built.
This camp is designed to work together with the weekly workshops and summer camps we current host at the Albany Rec Center. Campers who take multiple sessions can build on their projects if they wish. We work with our young filmmakers to help submit their projects to the youth division at our local Albany Film Festival.
