"The world is not made of atoms. It is made of stories." - Muriel Ruykeser
Public School funding has restricted students' access to arts education and critical thinking skills; two important studies that allow students to think differently about their ideas, and how to express them visually, physically and verbally. These skills are crucial for personal development and can provide a life-long appreciation for the arts, and increase confidence in areas that would otherwise have gone unrealized.
The Narrative Art Center is a start up community program providing an environment for exercising critical thinking and hands on innovation through collaborative DIY techniques. We are in the beginning stages of development and ask for your support to shape the direction of what a program like this can provide both individuals and the community they live.
Currently we offer summer camps and classes at the Albany Recreation Center center for kids ages 8-13. The camps will focus on art and film education through hands on video creation techniques and weekly film studies.
